HOW TO EXPLAIN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PLAY AND LEARNING IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF LEARNING THEORY

Abstract

This paper explores the relationship between play and learning in early childhood education through the lens of Jean Piaget’s cognitive developmental theory and Lev Vygotsky’s socio-cultural theory. Both theories highlight the importance of play in cognitive and social development, albeit from different perspectives. The paper reviews recent literature to support these theoretical frameworks and discusses their practical implications in educational settings.
