AN EXPLORATION OF MATH ANXIETY OF STUDENTS: PERSPECTIVES OF INTELLIGENCE AND MOTIVATION THEORY

Abstract

The current paper explores math anxiety (MA) among students’ maths learning through the perspectives of intelligence and motivation related learning theroies. By reviewing latestet researches and discussions on maths learning, the author gives insights to (1) the features and causes of MA, (2) the role of MA in the development of intelligence, (3) the dual influence between MA and students’ motivation in maths learning, and (4) a growth mindset in math learning is suggested to lessen the negative effect that MA may cause in math learning.
